Tiki Time!

Last weekend I helped out a photographer friend and modeled for a sixties Tiki shoot. We shot the photos in Alameda at a great Tiki Lounge called Forbidden Island. The clothes were supplied by a vintage shop called Twisters. All the photography was shot by my girl Jessica Milberg. The shoot was a blast, I had so much fun meeting the other girls and playing dress-up in some awesome vintage threads! Here are some of the first shots!

It's all in the details

Today was a rainy day. I sort of hate the rain. I can never seam to dress appropriately when it's wet outside, i.e. I'm the girl rocking flats walking through giant puddles and spending the whole day at work with wet feet! Well today I managed to pull it together and I think I came up with a functional and cute outfit for the weather. I wore my Seven for All Man Kind chambray dress, Gap knitted leggings (similar here), and Aldo boots (similar here). I accessorized with a Chloe handbag (similar here), Coach scarf (similar here), and The North Face Trench coat (gotta love the work free-bees)!

The Slanted Door

Last night I went to San Francisco to meet Leighsa for dinner to celebrate her vow renewal to her husband Ronnie (since the first time around, they eloped). They had the ceremony during the week and I couldn't get out of work so I was glad to meet her last night, give her a wedding gift, and catch up. We had dinner at the Slanted Door in the Ferry building. It was packed so we sat in the bar and order apps and wine. We got Japanese yellow tail with crispy shallots and Thai basil, crispy vegetarian imperial rolls, daikon rice cakes with shiitake mushrooms and shallots, and green papaya salad with tofu. The food was amazing. It was my first time eating there, I definitely recommend checking it out!

New Toy!

I just picked up a Fuji Instax mini camera (the next best thing to Polaroid) for my trip to Europe! I can't wait to snap some inspiring shots while my mom and I make our way to Paris, Nice, San Remo Italy, and Vence!

I was inspired to grab one of these cameras when reading a post on the Rockstar Diaries. Checkout Taza's awesome shots from Mexico to see what this bad boy can do!

What I'm listening to: Florence + the Machine

I am loving Florence And The Machine's album "Lungs". It won the Brit awards, best British album of 2010. I especially love the song "Dog Days Are Over". This album is something a little different. It's a little bad-ass mixed with a soft feminine edge. It has some really well written, evocative, and powerful lyrics. I highly recommend it. Check it out and see for yourself! http://florenceandthemachine.net/

DOG DAYS ARE OVER
Happiness hit her like a train on a track
Coming towards her stuck still no turning back
She hid around corners and she hid under beds
She killed it with kisses and from it she fled
With every bubble she sank with a drink
And washed it away down the kitchen sink.

The dog days are over
The dog days are done
The horses are comin' so you better run

Run fast for your mother; run fast for your father
Run for your children all your sisters and brothers
Leave all your love and your longing behind.
You can't carry it with you if you want to survive
The dog days are over
The dog days are done
Can you hear the horses
'Cos here they come

And I never wanted anything from you
Except everything you had
And what was left after that too

Oh! Happiness hit her like a bullet in the back
Struck from a great height
By someone who should have known better than that

The dog days are over
The dog days are done
Can you hear the horses
'Cos here they come

Run fast for your mother run fast for your father
Run for your children all your sisters and brothers
Leave all your love and your longing behind
You can't carry it with you if you want to survive

Look I love: A little nod to Fred Astaire

There is something so flirty about a good Fedora. Above are some awesome inspiration pics from http://lookbook.nu/ and a pic of me out on the town in my trusty fedora. Thank you Fred Astaire for your swagger and style-we are still knocking it today!

Weekend warrior

This weekend was very busy! I took Friday off work, so I made the most of the three days off. On Thursday night I went with Audrey to Salsa dancing (sorry I didn't take pics) and had so much fun! I am definitely no Salsa expert but it was awesome to try something new. After Salsa I met up with Caydie and Alex for Indian food in Rockridge. Those ladies always put a smile on my face.

On Friday I headed to Tahoe for some snowboarding. We got there Friday evening so we killed time at the climbing gym in Incline Village. After a good night of bouldering we had dinner and went to bed for an early day on the slopes. Saturday was a beautiful bluebird day and I had a spectacular day snowboarding one last time for the season. I rode until last chair. I felt so physched on snowboarding and can't wait for the snow next winter! I really feel like I have made a lot of progress in my riding after a good ten days this season. I'm even starting to perfect my jumps! Yay!

The weekend was such a good time. I feel ready to attack the week. Happy Monday everyone!

Tahoe Bound

I just decided I am hitting up Northstar this Saturday for my last day of riding this season. I'm sad to see the snow go, but ready to put my focus back into climbing. I haven't been up to Tahoe in the last month because I have been engrossed in packing and moving so I'm looking forward to escaping to the mountains one last time. Friday, are you here yet?

Take me here.

If I had all the money in the world. I would be somewhere like this. All of these amazing buildings get me daydreaming...one day.

Flagstaff and Sedona bouldering

The weekend was wonderful. I spent it in Flagstaff bouldering with my dear friend Brian who migrated to Flag a year and a half ago. My boy Jason from Boulder came out to climb with us too which made the trip even sweeter. Friday night I flew into Phoenix and Jason and I road triped in his van (Vana White) to Brian's. When we got there we bbq'ed on the deck, got silly, and later went out with some friends for some drinks at a local bar (The drinks were good but the people watching was top notch! We spent the evening making fun of people and starring in awe at the plethora of fashion train wrecks! So fun and awful all at once)!

Saturday Brian made breakfast for everyone and we had a lovely lazy morning shooting the shit with his roommate. Later all of us packed up Brian's VW and hit up some local bouldering at Priest's Draw. The bouldering was right up my alley, a ton of overhung pockety climbs! We had a great day and got in a few good sends. My fav was Bat Roof. We ended the day with a big Thai dinner, coldstone, and an early nights sleep.

Sunday we drove out to Sedona and went on an epic approach through a river up to our waists only to get in a few climbs cause time was tight. Even though we didn't get in a lot of climbing the trip was worth it! The landscape in Sedona is breathtaking! It was awe inspiring to be out in nature with amazing people...these moments are why I earn a living! So I can play! Feeling very thankful today!
